Layout View
Layout View is where you turn your 3D scenes into 2D panels and fine-tune the visual flow of your story. It’s the bridge between building in 3D and publishing your comic.
What Layout View Does
- Converts 3D panels into 2D panels for your story.
- Lets you adjust panel size, placement, and spacing.
- Allows adding speech balloons, 2D images, and visual effects.
- Helps control pacing and readability of your story.
Accessing Layout View
- In the Editor, use the Layout Mode button to toggle between Draft View (3D) and Layout View (2D).
- Panels that have been “captured” from 3D View appear here automatically.
Layout Workflow
- Select Panels – Use the Panel Drawer to pick which panels you want to edit.
- Move and Resize Panels – Drag panels on the canvas to adjust placement and spacing.
- Add Speech Balloons – Click Add Speech Balloon to place dialogue or captions.
- Add 2D Images – Include overlays or imported artwork if needed.
- Apply Effects – Adjust visual effects for emphasis, mood, or style.
- Preview Flow – Scroll through panels to ensure story pacing and readability.
- Export – Once panels are finalized, export your story in the publishable format.
Differences From Draft View (3D)
- Panels in Layout View reflect what has been captured from 3D View, not every object in the scene.
- Changes in Layout View affect panel arrangement and visual presentation, not the underlying 3D objects.
- Layout View focuses on readability, flow, and storytelling rather than scene construction.
Tips & Tricks
- Only panels that have been captured in 3D View appear in Layout View, remember to use the Capture button in 3D View to commit changes.
- Keep panels visually consistent for easier reading.
- Zoom in/out using the canvas controls to work on fine adjustments.
- Use Layout View for storytelling tweaks, not scene construction; major 3D edits should happen in 3D View first.
- Consider flow and pacing: panel size, spacing, and composition all affect how readers experience your story.
