Background

Background

The Background settings control what appears behind your scene in the 3D View. These settings are found in the Property Panel when nothing is selected, under the second tab at the top of the panel.

Background Type

Use the Background Type dropdown to choose what kind of background your scene uses. There are four options:

Skybox - surrounds the scene with a 360° environment texture. This is the default background type and is what you see in most scenes.

  • Set Skybox - open the Skybox browser to choose a different skybox asset
  • Tint - apply a color tint to the skybox
  • Skybox Pitch - tilt the skybox vertically
  • Skybox Yaw - rotate the skybox horizontally
  • Scale Horizontal - stretch the skybox horizontally
  • Scale Vertical - stretch the skybox vertically

Image - uses a flat 2D image as the scene background.

Solid Color - fills the background with a single flat color.

Transparent - removes the background entirely, leaving it transparent.

Shared Settings

All background types include the following options:

  • Match Scene Lighting - when enabled, applies the scene's lighting to the background. The Strength value controls how strongly the lighting affects it.
  • Blur Strength - sets the amount of blur applied to the background.
